Curriculum
Blue River STEAM Academy is a Frog Street learning environment. The critical learning domains are woven into every aspect of Frog Street's pre-k curriculum, and weekly instructional plans are easy to follow and implement with fidelity. Integrated STEAM projects promote problem-solving and beginning coding skills. Interactive digital programs support virtual learning and families at home. An exclusive partnership with the Conscious Discipline® program provides the tools for a solid social-emotional foundation. Teacher observations and provocations are at the base of the INSERT FROG STREET CURRICULIM LINK. Children are actively involved in deciding the direction of learning every day. A study can last days, weeks, or even months — all based on the interests and energy of the children.
Our Classrooms
We organize the design of our rooms in a way that feels open and creates a nice flow. Natural materials provide an infinite number of possibilities. We see classrooms as the third teacher. This concept plays a crucial role in play-based learning. Invitations for learning are centers. They are co-created by teachers and children to spark and inspire wonder and curiosity.
Documentation serves many purposes. Most of all, it is used as a research tool. The children’s learning process is recorded. Documentation happens daily. It is a process through which teachers discuss the learning. They keep it fluid and emergent. It also gives meaning and identity to all that the children do. Teachers blog their observations, comments, and photos on the Blue River Parent’s secure website.
Nature Play
Our outdoor environments provide a unique stage for action, stimulating play, learning, and physical activity. Outdoor play structures function as outdoor classrooms and accessible play areas. We stress informed stewardship of the environment with students and underscore connections with the natural world. Blue River STEAM Academy school garden offers a unique and enjoyable learning experience for curious young minds.
Preschool Families
Families are children's first teachers, and active involvement is required. We hold family conferences, classroom blogs, parent volunteer days, monthly newsletters, and unique fun events. Classroom Dojo is one way we stay connected with our families.
